Our first week together. I like what I am seeing!
We are settling into our routine; my backpack goes in the bin, I find my seat, I listen for directions, I get busy working...I write my name on the back, I close my glue, I place everything back in my catty, I flip my name tag, I push my chair in, I pick up any clippings. Whew! So much to remember! And then, I get to play, but only one tub toy at a time.
We are learning to glue, "Just a dot, not a lot!" And, “open, squeeze” to make our scissors work. I especially love some of the mis-pronunciations of my name. Courtney calls me Mrs. MaClue. I love hearing it. It makes me giggle inside. One year I was Cow. Even the students giggled at that!
A marvelous week! We spent time talking and finding out what all the kids were marvelous for. “Marvelous means great! What are you great at?” “I can run fast!” “I can run faster!” “I am nice!” Annie: “I can make my bed and clean my room!” Brooks: “I can jump so high!” Orlando: “My dad is great at killing bugs!”
I was fashioning a Marvelous Me hat around Andie’s head when she said, “Hey! It’s not MY birthday!” Funny!
During calendar time, while teaching the AB pattern of apples on the calendar, “Yes! It’s red! But, how do you know these things?” Ellie answered, “We’re smart! And we have brains!” Ha! So cute!
