We had a short two-day week with Letter Ww. We talked about the sound of it ‘whipping in the wind’ as we found W words; What? Where? Winter, and Jace shouted, “Woop-ti-do!” It was fun because some to the children discovered new words. Nathan shouted, “Wail-woad!” which we helped him understand was really, ‘railroad’. Hendrix shouted, “Weaf!” which was really ‘leaf’ and Nash shouted, “Wat!” which we explained was really ‘rat’. Ha! We also sang Wut wour wight wand won wour weart (Put your right hand on your heart) song where Leisel turned into Weisel, Navy went Wavy, Que was, well… Woo! Josh got to Wash, Lincoln was Winkin’, Lilly changed to Willy, Clyde got to be Wide, Trig changed into Wig, and Todd turned into a Wodd. We giggled with all of the changes! We weally woved Ww!
We read a story about building a snowman. We discussed winter, as the children began cutting and dressing up a snowman. “Do you want to build a snowman? OK, try!” Kohl was so cute, “This is the craziest snowman I’ve ever seen!” We then gave the children marshmallows to cut in half to stick on their pictures as snowflakes that fall to the ground and collect to make snow. Creative Mason exclaimed, “It’s a blizzard on this side!” All the pictures turned out so beautifully; a masterpiece for your wall for at least a week, barring they weren’t devoured before they got a chance! Ha!
At the beginning of class, Jaxson burst through the door with a stuffed backpack, “I have a helicopter in here! It kills monkeys!” It was a camouflage copter with little soldiers inside. Uh…gorilla warfare? I don’t know! I’m just a preschool teacher! But, he had quite a bit to tell us that day. Ha!
We also giggled as we overheard Mason playing with a few girls and the dishes, while passing over a plate, “It’s a spicy jalapeno! It’s so hot!” I love that boy’s imagination and he’s so sweet with those girls. Too bad we all have to grow up and get all goofy and uncomfortable with one another later in life. I’ve said it a million times, “THIS IS THE BEST AGE, EVER!!!”
Thursday, we talked about how a snowman needs to be cold and what he turns into as he melts. We sang a snowman song and melted into puddles. Then, we got out our blue crayons and colored all those puddles. The children had fun fashioning a bright sun above their melting snowman on each page. Lillian said, “The sun is made of hot lava!” That inspired several to increase the size of their suns or add more colors and vibrancy to them. “Oooh! Hot lava! I’m making mine bigger!” It was a fun day.
Next week is our very big Hh Week. Your child will not want to miss this. We will paint marshmallow shooters on Monday, my sister is bringing her pony and pony cart on Wednesday (so fun!) and Thursday, we will ride the stick horses we make in the backyard for a trail ride and have horse races to find the fastest horse! Your children are welcome to wear western clothes on Wednesday and Thursday. We will provide a Hat, Holster, and vest for your child to wear both days and take home to keep on Thursday.
See you all on Monday. Have a great weekend.
Much, much love and devotion,
Mrs. McClure
Mrs. Walters
